Pickle Cousins
You already know that pickles (a.k.a. gherkins) can be made by bathing little cucumbers in brine, but I think it's time you were exposed to my alternative ‘cumber-dunking experiments.
Below is a list of liquids into which a small cucumber (C) may be plopped, and the foodstuffs that will emerge, given time (please leave ‘cumbers swimming for at least thirty minutes before fishing them out):
C + custard = banana*
C + liquidized frog bones = zucchini
C + mayonnaise = squash
C + egg and olive yogurt = eggplant
C + gooseberry soup = kiwifruit
C + sweet potato mousse = hotdog
*NB: bananas come out skinless, consider adding a wee coat.
