How to start the day if you're someone like me:
Drink two coffees.
Talk yourself out of buying the cheddar-chive scone.
Scroll a bit, but not too much.
Listen to music that makes you feel like Rocky, atop the steps.
Now, climb into your sketchbook.
Burp up those fresh brain nuggets.
This is the golden hour for brain nuggs, my friend.
I read that, if you’re trying to concentrate, you shouldn’t to listen to music with words in it. Songs, you might say. Failing that, stick to tunes you know really well—they’re less distracting.
You aren’t going to believe this, but some people (Keith, for one) recommend working in deathly silence. To them, I say, “I respect you, but I’m not a burglar. I do not require state-of-the-art stealth.”
In truth, this is good advice from Keith, but I refuse to give him the satisfaction.
Here’s where it all goes down:
I used to write in silence, but now I can’t do without Lo-fi playlists. I listen to them obsessively, lol. I also find that the background noise of coffee shops (clattering, chatter, elevator music) is really good for productivity for some reason. But yeah, nowadays I can’t write without something playing. Your drawing encapsulates the dream locale.
