Today is Valentine’s day, which prompts an obvious question; “who the heck was St. Valentine?”
Time to consult Wikipedia—which, let’s remind ourselves, is not a wholly reliable source. Wikipedia is like the celebrity impersonator of facts. It’s like if the truth was a bit drunk.
At one point we used to say, “…mind you, I got that from Wikipedia,” after declaring our forthright opinion on something or other. We need to go back to that.
Anyway, what it says about the myth of St. Valentine, is that there are several possible origin stories, over hundreds of years. In that respect, he was like a love-based Robin Hood (except for the fact that he probably did exist).
Mind you, I got all that from Wikipedia.
