When I first came to Canada, on a student work visa, I worked as a barista in a coffeeshop.
In the interview for the job, the manager asked me if I drank coffee. “You see, part of the job is to advise customers on our various blends.” I had to admit I did not. “Tea then?” No, I don’t drink tea either.
What an unsophisticated wretch I was. For some reason I still got the job.
I still spend my mornings in local coffeeshops, but now I’m a hoity-toity cartoonerer, in search of ideas. Glugging it down like a performance enhancing drug.
The point is, people can change.
