Have you heard of soccer? Oh, good. Where I’m from it’s called football by the way—and it’s a funny old game.
This week, the team I was infected with as a child, had a chaotic and memorable night.
Down by two goals, with only thirty-five minutes of the game remaining, Everton F.C. (a.k.a. The Toffees) fought back to win 3-2.
Their victory means, against the odds, that they will remain in the top division—for a sixty-ninth consecutive season.
It was bedlam and unreal. It was an epic drama. It was insane in the membrane.
I’ve tried to capture a portion of it here.
