A Case of the Februaries
Do we dare imagine that things might soon be brighter? I say yes! Let’s gird our loins a little longer, but be hopeful.
See you in the future.
The First Game of Cricket in America
While browsing this-day-in-history websites, I stumbled on the fact that the first publicly recorded game of cricket in the U.S.A. took place in May, 1751—in New York City.
So, I looked at 18th century depictions of New York, and early illustrations of cricket matches in England. The result is what you see below—an illustration for the month of May, in the 2022 American Bystander calendar.

What are animals?
This question is big question and we can’t hope to answer it today. Instead, we’ll narrow our focus. Let’s start with the ten best animals (according to studies) and see if we can describe them:
Chickens: pecky egg-makers
Elephants: boulders with a weird nose
Dogs: companions that lick your face
Cows: stomach hoarding slow-pokes
Whales: giant bags of blubber
Horses: old timey bicycles
Pigs: snouted pillows
Monkeys: people with hairy clothes
Sharks: pointy underwater robots
Snakes: dangerous belts
These results will now be extrapolated to cover the rest of the animal kingdom.
Below is a cartoon I made for Wired Magazine, in 2019.
